 Step 5: Use

Great Job!  You are at Step 5, the Use section, and only a few more Steps to go.  In the previous Steps, you learned what landlords and lenders require from applicants and how to meet their requirements.  You gained tips on how to stay encouraged and motivated in a challenging housing market.  Although you may face some obstacles, you now have the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to address them.

You also learned the value of planning and determination when searching in D.C. for housing that is affordable and accessible.  The Guide has prepared you to work towards independent living, from developing a household budget to finding housing subsidy programs to improving your credit score.

In Step 5 and the remaining Steps, you will learn about government and non-profit resources to help find, afford and sustain housing.  There are traditional resources, such as real estate agents, who can help you search too.

A. Why Contact a Real Estate Agent

B. Why Use Real Estate Websites

C. What Websites to Use When Searching for Affordable and, or Accessible Housing in the District of Columbia (D.C.)
