Once you are ready, willing, and able to rent or buy a home, you may want to seek the assistance of a licensed real estate agent. They can provide information or listings of what is currently available for rent or sale based on your housing needs and price range. Prospective tenants or homebuyers do not pay real estate agents. The seller or landlord is responsible for paying the real estate agent.
Some Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) have lists of real estate agents and lenders who have experience with government-sponsored housing programs. You can also contact the Greater Capital Areas Association of Realtors Find a REALTOR (gcaar.com) or the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) NAREB - National Association of Real Estate Brokers to find a real estate agent.
