Transition Policy

The purpose of this policy is to establish the standards and guidelines by which the Department on Disability Services (DDS), Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), supports District of Columbia residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities to choose residential and day/employment service providers and, when they choose to change providers, to have a well-managed transition that mitigates risk.

Person-Centered Thinking

Person-centered thinking is a philosophy behind service provision that supports positive control and self-direction of people’s own lives. DDS is working to implement this through training sessions and other agency wide initiatives.

Employment First Initiative
