DDA Community Forum: The HCBS Settings Rule

In 2014, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) made a new rule that more clearly defines what home and community based services (HCBS) mean. States across the nation, including DC, are working to make changes to their service system in order to comply with the new CMS requirements.

DDA Community Forum: Medicaid Waiver Amendments and HCBS Settings Rule Transition Plan Update

This community forum is for anyone who is interested in learning about or sharing comments on proposed changes to the rate methodology for certain services in our Medicaid Waiver for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Following the discussion on rates, we will give an update on our DC Transition Plan for the IDD waiver to comply with the HCBS Settings Rule. The public notice, proposed amendments to the waiver, rate books, and the Transition Plan are all on-line at: http://dds.dc.gov/page/waiver-amendment-information.

Parent to Parent Leadership Institute for families

Greetings! Advocates for Justice and Education Inc. (AJE) will be hosting a Parent-to-Parent Leadership Institute for families. This event will be held Saturday, September 19th and 26th from 9:00am-3:00pm at the Thurgood Marshall Center Trust located at 1816 12th St NW, Washington, DC 20009. During our two day workshop, parents will learn about important topics such as financial planning for children with special needs, youth mental health resources, and assessing affordable health insurance.
