Incident Management and Enforcement Unit

The Incident Management and Enforcement Unit (IMEU) investigates, follows up on and enforces recommended remedial actions for serious reportable incidents.

The purpose of IMEU is to identify factors that may have contributed to the incident, recommend necessary preventive measures, and use this information on an individual and systemic basis to improve care and habilitation supports and services for all persons.

The IMEU includes:

Person-Centered Thinking

Person-centered thinking is a philosophy behind service provision that supports positive control and self-direction of people’s own lives. DDS is working to implement this through training sessions and other agency wide initiatives.

Employment First Initiative

Under the Employment First philosophy, competitive, integrated employment is the first and overwhelmingly preferred option for working-age youth and adults with disabilities.
