RSA Job Placement Services Overview

Job Seeker Services

RSA provides the following services to job seekers.

Work Readiness Workshops

To prepare job seekers to gain employment, RSA provides work readiness workshops to improve interviewing techniques, resume development and employment retention.  Interested job seekers can contact their assigned Rehabilitation Vocational Counselor, if they wish to register to attend a monthly workshop.  Workshops are for eligible RSA job seekers only.

Exposure to Employers

RSA exposes job seekers to employer partners through Industry Spotlights and Job Fairs.  Industry Spotlights allow job seekers to learn about the District of Columbia’s various employment industries which include industries such as Healthcare, Hospitality, Information Technology and Retail just to name a few. Job fairs provide another opportunity for employment-ready job seekers to market their skills to employers and to learn about employer expectations.

RSA also provides internship opportunities to job seekers, when available. To learn more about the opportunities listed above eligible job seekers can speak with their assigned Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

Job Placement

RSA matches qualified job seekers to employment opportunities through relationships developed with various federal, private, and non-profit employer partners.  Job seekers are screened and assessed based on the qualifications presented by employer partners. Job announcements to assist job seekers with their job search process are shared electronically on a regular basis. If an eligible job seekers wishes to receive employment information, they can contact their assigned Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.

Employment Retention

RSA supports eligible job seekers who are already employed but believe they either have or have developed a disability. Supports may include:

  • Determining appropriate work-place accommodations.
  • Assessing existing work-related skills.
  • Identifying employment alternatives if the job seeker’s disability prevents them from effectively performing the current job.

Other Employment Resources

Job seekers can use some of the following resources to apply for employment and industry specific training opportunities. For additional assistance with employment beyond the DC government resources, these links may help:

All DC-based job seekers are encouraged to utilize the below services in addition to RSA employment services to increase the probability of obtaining employment. Multiple links are provided since DOES offerings are sometimes not easily found on the website. Finding the below links requires too many clicks. If job seekers are required to dig for information they will become frustrated and leave the website.
