The Office of Public Information is responsible for drafting, disseminating and handling all inquires with the press, while at the same time distributing all information to the media, District residents, stakeholders, and to agency employees. This office is designated to speak on behalf of the agency and this office is responsible for the coordination of all media interviews. The Office of Public Information is responsible for planning, developing and implementing a comprehensive communication and public relations program for the Department that informs the general public, the media, and other District Government agencies of the Department’s mission, goals and objectives in providing quality services. It also designs and implements advertising campaigns with regard to major agency progress and initiatives.
It is responsible for media outreach, the development and dissemination of press releases, coordinating press conferences and development of all graphic materials distributed by the agency. It is responsible for the development of guides, brochures and newsletters, which delineate the goals and objectives of the agency. This office is also responsible for ensuring that all constituent issues are responded to in a timely manner.
