Provider Results for the Basic Assurance Standards Authorization Review (BASA)

In April 2007, the Department on Disability Services through the Developmental Disabilities Administration began assessing residential providers. The assessment, BASA, tells us whether a provider is meeting the minimal standards in providing supports and services to people with disabilities in the District of Columbia.

There are seven (7) standards assessed. Each one measures how well a provider protects the health, safety, and well being of the people it supports. When the BASA is passed, it tells us that the provider has the foundation, policies and procedures in place to assure people are treated with respect and dignity and are free from abuse, neglect, and mistreatment.

The chart reports on the District DDA providers that have passed or failed the BASA on the first, second or third trials. If a provider does not pass by the third trial, DDA will no longer authorize people to receive services through that provider. DDA staff will work with people with disabilities and their families to move to services where the provider is authorized should that occur.
